DigitalOcean’s Storage Team is a remote team that builds and operates cloud-scale distributed storage powering internal and customer-facing services and products. We’re creating flexible and powerful solutions that our customers will leverage to ship their software as quickly, easily, and safely as possible.
The Object Storage Team supports the operations and development of business logic, middleware, edge, and API solutions of our S3-compatible object store, Spaces. We are looking for an engineer who will help lead the development and support of current and future storage platforms at scale.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to make impactful contributions to the Spaces service ecosystem, contribute to the open source community, and debug interesting problems at cloudscale. This role reports to the Engineering Manager of the Object Storage team and is currently only available remotely.

Requirements

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software in modern tools and languages, such as Go, while continually cultivating your skills and collaborating with an agile, self-motivated team.
• Experience automating, operating, and troubleshooting production systems; maintaining the availability and performance of storage products
• Experience with Linux operating systems and familiarity with storage fundamentals
• Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) and service-oriented architectures
• Familiarity with concurrency / parallelism models in a modern programming languages
• Experience leading discussions on architectures, implementations, design patterns, and processes with the ability to succinctly convey ideas to peers and mentees

Nice To Haves

• Any relevant domain experience such as Ceph, S3, block storage, containerization, software routing and load balancing
