About the position
Etsy is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join our International Engineering team. You will be joining a team of software engineers, building features and systems to enable our international sellers to reach millions of buyers globally. The technology we build spans the full stack end to end; from user experience, to API design, backend service development, vendor integrations, and database design. Depending on the needs of the business our team may need to move up and down the stack, and in many cases collaborate with other teams to get to what needs to be done. This is a full-time position reporting to the Manager, International Engineering. Responsibilities
- Contribute at all levels; from front-end (HTML, CSS, JS, and relevant frameworks), to API design and back-end (PHP, MySQL, BigQuery), and standalone supporting services running in containers.
- Document technical design decisions, and give feedback to other team members on their design specs.
- Work cross-functionally with various teams for technical alignment and dependency management.
- Participate in code and design reviews and maintain high standards of code quality.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Work with supporting functions, such as analytics, product management, and design, to make sure we are building the right product for the right set of customers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working on large scale projects, where you lead the technical direction of moderately complex problems.
- Experience building backend systems serving millions of customers with a focus on high availability, security, and maintainability.
- Ability to mentor other engineers through pairing, delegation, and sponsorship.
- Strong documentation skills for technical design.
- Experience collaborating with partner functions, such as Product Management, Analytics, and Research.
