Senior Software Engineer II, Internal Systems

BiofireBroomfield, CO
4d$180,000 - $210,000Hybrid

About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer II, Internal Systems at Biofire, you will play a pivotal role in developing Biofire's internal systems. You will own Biofire’s internal systems architecture end-to-end, partnering closely with system owners and cross-functional stakeholders to understand how our systems work today and where they break down. This role is accountable for turning ambiguity into a clear current-state map, a prioritized roadmap with measurable outcomes, and working MVPs that remove meaningful manual work and close critical data and traceability gaps. You’ll connect heterogeneous systems through production-grade integrations that hold up under real operations, while improving the stability and effectiveness of existing workflows during buildout and delivering a pragmatic migration strategy. Success requires high autonomy, evidence-based problem solving, strong technical writing, and a security-by-default mindset.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ownership of internal systems architecture end-to-end, delivering working solutions across a mixed buy/build stack with strong prioritization and iterative execution
  • Proven experience integrating enterprise systems across business and operations (e.g., inventory, manufacturing execution, product lifecycle, customer systems) and delivering production-grade API/event/batch workflows that stay reliable under real operations, using patterns like idempotency and robust retry/recovery
  • Proven ability to design end-to-end workflows and maintain consistency across systems of record using canonical IDs, lifecycle/state models, and approaches that resolve “systems disagree” failures
  • Strong technical writing and stakeholder alignment skills, including documenting decisions, risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs clearly
  • Comfort bridging business systems with manufacturing and operations realities, including uptime/cycle-time sensitivity and traceability needs.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of internal systems end-to-end: understand current architecture, workflows, and operational constraints by working directly with existing system owners
  • Assess the internal systems landscape to produce a prioritized plan (technical debt, risks, and velocity blockers across access/tooling/resourcing), align stakeholders on the roadmap, and document decisions and tradeoffs clearly
  • Ship a small set of high-impact MVPs that reduce manual work and close data/traceability gaps, and quantify outcomes with meaningful operational metrics
  • Design and implement resilient integrations across heterogeneous systems (API/event/batch), with observability that supports real operations
  • Improve stability of existing workflows during buildout, and deliver a pragmatic migration strategy aligned to the roadmap.

Benefits

  • Stock Options in Biofire, 401(k), HSA - and other financial benefits
  • Medical Insurance - including plan options with $0 payroll deduction
  • Dental, Vision and Life Insurance Plans - with $0 payroll deduction
  • 3 Weeks Vacation and Sick time (Flex Time for salary positions), and 13 Paid Holidays
