About The Position

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. You will lead critical initiatives in keeping Google's most advanced search experiences safe and trustworthy. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in Java, C++, and Python programming languages.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
3 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end and front-end.
1 year of experience with GenAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, multi-modal, large vision models) or with GenAI-related concepts (language modeling, computer vision).

Nice To Haves

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
Experience implementing core Machine Learning concepts and advanced algorithms.
Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) concepts and techniques.
Experience with text classification and image classification.
Experience building and deploying anti-spam or anti-abuse systems.

Responsibilities

Design and optimize the data pipelines and enforcement frameworks that power our detection engines. Ensure these systems are maintainable, and can manage the latency requirements of real-time AI Search.
Drive the technical design and end-to-end implementation of advanced ML models and classifiers. Ensure our detection logic is extensible and stays ahead of evolving AI-generated spam and abuse.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Lead initiatives to improve the performance of the core search stack. Identify and execute architectural changes that reduce the computational cost of processing abusive content, directly impacting Search’s operational efficiency.
