About The Position

Help drive a culture of experimentation and data-driven decision-making at Walmart scale to continuously evolve and improve the customer experience. We are seeking an experienced engineer to support and build systems to further enable the self-serve experimentation community at Walmart. This position sits on the Walmart Experimentation Platform team. Our goal is to deliver a superior experience to our testers making it easier to create, monitor, analyze, and act on experiments. Our A/B Testing platform helps our customers make critical business decisions across all of Walmart. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.

Requirements

  • Proven software development expertise with one or more: Java, Scala, Lua, Go, Rust, Node
  • Maintaining and deploying computing environments across local and cloud-based systems
  • Experience developing and maintaining large-scale systems
  • Ability to proactively manage projects and troubleshoot issues
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Experience working with Feature Flags and risk-mitigated deployments
  • Experience building data solutions and AI/ML products
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; designing solutions (design docs, wireframes, implementation plans); writing and developing code; testing; collaborating with cross functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information (issue, impact, criticality, root cause); engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; formulating an action plan; and performing actions as designated in the plan.
  • Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.
  • Develop and scale efficient and reliable systems and pipelines to support teams globally throughout Walmart
  • Work in an agile and diverse engineering team, closely partnering with data scientists, engineers, and analysts developing leadership skills that will help you grow your career
