About The Position

Position Description: Develops microservices networks to handle high Transaction Per Second (TPS) traffic with low latency. Simplifies application and data workflow orchestration using Customer Information Control System (CICS), Message Queue (MQ), COBOL, Job Control Language (JCL), Time Sharing Option (TSO), SORT, File-Aid, DB2, Control-M, and Virtual Storage Access Management (VSAM). Deploys changes to software applications using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices. Retrieves information and data to simplify programming, using Easytrieve, mainframe transmissions, Direct Connect (NDM), Axway SFTP, and Business Objects. Implements modules using Endeavor. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing, testing, and deploying Mainframe online and batch applications using Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), Job Control Language (JCL), Database 2 (DB2) and Customer Information Control System (CICS), and Endeavor, Changeman, or Panvalets.
  • Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing, testing, and deploying Mainframe online and batch applications using Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), Job Control Language (JCL), Database 2 (DB2) and Customer Information Control System (CICS), and Endeavor, Changeman, or Panvalets.
  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) creating high-level architectures, performing deep system analysis, and developing mainframe-based solutions, using Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), Job Control Language (JCL), Database 2 (DB2), and Customer Information Control System (CICS); troubleshooting using debugging tools (Xpeditor, IBM Debugger, or Intertest); and batching job schedules using Control M or CA-7.
  • DE developing real-time DB2 database and Virtual Storage Access Management (VSAM) file connectivity to Web-based online brokerage transaction processing systems through CICS Transaction Gateway, using COBOL-CICS programs.
  • DE performing setup and support of disaster recovery tests for Logical Partition (LPAR), and Messaging and Queuing (MQ) on mainframe operating systems, using Time Sharing Option (TSO), Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF), Job Control Language (JCL), and SYSVIEW.
  • DE manipulating and sorting data using IBM and third-party utilities (Sync-Sort and File-Aid); reporting ad hoc production data using Easytrieve; writing data queries (using Platinum) and file systems (using VSAM); and developing mainframe middleware software to port data between the mainframe and front-end Graphical User Interface (GUI) applications.

  • Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
  • Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
  • Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
  • Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
  • Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.
