Senior Software Engineer, Developer Productivity

Prophet SecurityMenlo Park, CA

About The Position

At Prophet Security, we're building an AI-native security operations platform that accelerates detection, investigation, and response. Our founding team brings over 30 years of cybersecurity experience from Abnormal Security, Expel, Mandiant, McAfee, and more. We're focused on disrupting the $400B security labor market by building the future of automated security operations — and we're looking for engineers who want to build the foundation that makes it all possible. About the Role The Platform team owns the infrastructure, tooling, and engineering systems that every product team at Prophet depends on. As a Platform Software Engineer focused on Developer Productivity, you'll be the person who unblocks the rest of engineering: improving our deploy cadence, hardening our test infrastructure, and building the scaffolding for an AI-native development lifecycle. This is a high-leverage, cross-cutting role. You'll work closely with the rest of the Platform team and product engineering teams to identify root causes behind developer friction and deployment blockers, build lasting fixes, and raise the quality bar across the entire codebase.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering
  • Demonstrated experience designing and operating CI/CD systems at scale (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, ArgoCD, or similar)
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or Go, with the ability to write production-quality backend code
  • Experience building automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, E2E) for distributed systems
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong debugging instincts - you can trace failures across distributed systems and identify root causes systematically
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, aligning stakeholders and driving adoption of shared tooling, workflows, and standards
  • Clear written and verbal communication; you can explain technical tradeoffs to both engineers and non-engineers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a startup environment, ideally Series A/B stage
  • Exposure to AI/ML workloads or LLM-powered systems
  • Background in security or experience building security tooling
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi)
  • Familiarity with observability stacks (Datadog, OpenTelemetry, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Build and mature our testing infrastructure — establish patterns, frameworks, and tooling for unit, integration, and end-to-end testing across services
  • Own the CI/CD pipeline end-to-end — design, implement, and continuously improve build, test, and deployment pipelines to double our deploy frequency
  • Act as a force multiplier for engineering — remove bottlenecks, standardize best practices, and improve the day-to-day developer experience across the company
  • Champion reliability and observability — help establish SLOs, alerting, and monitoring across the platform; use instrumentation, data, and automation to drive decisions on system health and engineering velocity
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and security partners — be an embedded partner for Core Product squads, embedding safety, reliability, and scalability into everyday development practices

Benefits

  • We provide great benefits, meaningful equity, and a fun, inspiring environment.
