Senior Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure

Webflow
77d$132,100 - $207,100

About The Position

At Webflow, our mission is to bring development superpowers to everyone. As the pioneer of the Website Experience Platform (WXP), we’re redefining how teams Build, Manage, and Optimize for the web — combining visual development, powerful content management systems, AI-driven personalization, seamless hosting, and end-to-end analytics in a single, unified platform. With AI at the core, Webflow helps teams move faster, create more performant digital experiences, and scale without heavy engineering support. From independent designers and creative agencies to global enterprises, hundreds of thousands of organizations use Webflow to turn ideas into reality — and to power what’s possible on the web. We’re excited for a Senior Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure to join our Data Platform team. In this role, you’ll help design, build, and operate the core data systems that power analytics, governance, and intelligent decision-making across Webflow. You’ll work across infrastructure, orchestration, and metadata systems — ensuring that our data is discoverable, compliant, and trustworthy.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering, with hands-on expertise managing systems like Kafka, Spark, and Airflow.
  • Strong proficiency with cloud environments (compute, storage, networking, IAM) and infrastructure as code using Pulumi or Terraform.
  • Experience building and operating containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of the foundations of data governance and metadata management — including schema evolution, lineage, and access control.
  • Familiarity with event instrumentation frameworks and governance practices, ensuring event schemas, naming conventions, and data contracts remain consistent and high-quality.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools, ensuring reliability and performance across distributed systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Stay curious and open to growth — actively building fluency in emerging technologies like AI to unlock creativity, accelerate progress, and amplify impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience contributing to or deploying data catalogs (DataHub, OpenMetadata) or schema registries.
  • Knowledge of privacy and compliance requirements (PII detection, residency, access audits).
  • Interest in applying ML/AI techniques for catalog enrichment (e.g., embedding-based search, documentation generation).

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate core data infrastructure across Airflow, Spark, and AWS to support both batch and streaming pipelines, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Implement and extend metadata and catalog systems (e.g., OpenMetadata) to deliver capabilities like dataset discovery, lineage, and documentation — empowering data users with visibility and self-service.
  • Develop platform capabilities and event governance frameworks that enable consistent event instrumentation and publishing across data systems, ensuring schema integrity, quality, and compliance.
  • Implement secure and compliant data access and policy enforcement, leveraging IAM roles, schema registries, and automation to meet governance and residency requirements (GDPR, CCPA).
  • Design and operate resilient infrastructure — including VPCs, networking, high availability, and disaster recovery — with Pulumi-based automation across compute, storage, and data lake components (S3, Iceberg).
  • Collaborate with Analytics, ML, and Security teams to embed metadata-driven observability, enforcement, and streamlined onboarding of datasets, pipelines, and workflows into the platform.
  • Participate in incident response, code reviews, and design discussions, contributing to an operationally excellent and collaborative team culture.

Benefits

  • Equity ownership (RSUs) in a growing, privately-owned company.
  • 100% employer-paid healthcare, vision, and dental insurance coverage for full-time employees (working 30+ hours per week) and their dependents.
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave for both birthing and non-birthing caregivers, as well as an additional 6-8 weeks of pregnancy disability leave for birthing parents.
  • Flexible PTO for all locations and sabbatical program.
  • Access to mental wellness and professional coaching, therapy, and Employee Assistance Program.
  • Monthly stipends to support work and wellness.
  • 401k plan or pension schemes (in countries where statutorily required), and other financial wellness benefits.
