About The Position

Bombas is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team to help guide the maintenance and evolution of our Core Infrastructure. Reporting to our Core Infrastructure lead, you'll play a key role in monitoring system performance, empowering other engineers with new tooling to do so on their own, and working to reduce friction at each stage of the development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience working with Core Infrastructure but is also comfortable working on product-facing systems (APIs, etc).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of overall engineering experience, with 3+ years working closely with infrastructure, platform, or developer tooling
  • Solid proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, and a strong comfort level writing backend application code
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), particularly through tools like Terraform, Serverless Framework, or CDK
  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting distributed systems or application performance issues
  • Familiarity with tools like Postgres, MySQL, Redis, Kafka, or similar technologies
  • A flexible, team-first mindset with the ability to shift between infrastructure and application-layer work as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to observability platforms (e.g., Datadog) and infrastructure frameworks like Serverless Framework or Terraform is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to and maintaining the infrastructure and application tooling that powers our systems
  • Writing and supporting TypeScript code that improves developer workflows, system observability, and platform resilience
  • Working across engineering teams to improve reliability, security, and performance through well-documented practices and shared tooling
  • Helping expand automation and improve the developer experience across the entire software development lifecycle
  • Participating in architectural reviews, debugging sessions, and system performance investigations
  • Evaluating technical solutions and helping shape the Core Infrastructure roadmap in collaboration with other engineers

Benefits

  • We are a team of smart, interesting, diverse, funny, and loving people.
  • We offer competitive compensation, employer paid health, medical and dental benefits, 401k with match, paid parental leave, snacks, socks and a fun, relaxed office environment.
