As a Senior Software Engineer – Cloud Platform, you will play a pivotal role in building and evolving Guidewire’s industry-leading cloud platform. You’ll leverage your expertise in cloud-native development, microservices, and automation to deliver high-impact solutions that drive measurable value for our customers. Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant software engineering experience, with a strong background in cloud platforms (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, Golang, or equivalent).
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, service discovery, and API gateways.
  • Strong Linux debugging skills and experience with container technologies.
  • Commitment to proven software design principles (e.g., SOLID, Hexagonal) and automated testing.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills; a team-first mindset.
  • Experience with distributed tracing, monitoring, and observability in cloud environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), serverless architectures, and multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
  • Familiarity with cost optimization, security, and compliance in cloud environments.
  • Experience working in agile, fast-paced, and highly collaborative teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain highly available, distributed cloud platform services using Kubernetes and AWS as the backbone.
  • Develop microservices, automation tools, and infrastructure-as-code to support the full lifecycle of Guidewire’s SaaS applications.
  • Engineer for quality, scalability, security, and operational excellence, embedding automated testing and observability into everything you deliver.
  • Collaborate daily with engineers, product managers, and architects through pair programming and agile ceremonies to deliver impactful solutions.
  • Drive adoption of best practices in REST/gRPC APIs, service discovery, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Champion cost optimization, security, and compliance in multi-tenant environments, supporting Guidewire’s mission to deliver measurable value and efficiency for customers.
  • Mentor peers, share knowledge, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and responsible AI use.
