About the position

The Senior Software Engineer for Big Data Systems at Microsoft AI will be responsible for designing, developing, and operating scalable data applications and systems that support the Ads Data Platform Team. This role involves processing over half a trillion ad-serving events daily, contributing to business analytics, model training, and reporting. The position requires a self-motivated individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and tackle the challenges of online advertising through computational intelligence and scalable algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Work with BingAds stakeholders to determine requirements for new features to drive up Ads business.
• Create system design for feature requirements, ensuring compliance with security and expectations.
• Implement features with high efficiency, extensibility, diagnosability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Review code to ensure it meets quality standards and is appropriate for the scale of the product feature.
• Maintain operations of live service on a rotational, on-call basis, identifying solutions to issues as they arise.
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation or downtime.
• Profile and analyze distributed system performance and capacity bottlenecks, proposing solutions to improve latency and capacity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• 4+ years experience in Distributed Systems and Big Data Technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Yarn, Kafka, Flink, Scala.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Microservices, Kubernetes, and Linux.
• Experience with Azure.
• Experience in machine learning and online system design, implementation, and qualification.
