About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer - Backend role at Uber focuses on enhancing the customer engagement software stack within the Customer Obsession team. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, Master's Degree, or PhD in an engineering field (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering).
• 8+ years of relevant experience in building highly-scalable distributed systems and platforms.
• Proficiency in coding with Golang, Java, or similar languages.
• Ability to manage system complexity effectively.
• Strong background in data analytics tools such as Hive or similar.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of concepts such as GRPC, Kafka, NoSQL & relational databases, Redis.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with GoLang is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in mentoring junior engineers.
• Proven experience in shipping high-quality product features on schedule and with high velocity.
• Strong sense of ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team to design, build, and maintain backend platforms, services, and solutions for the Customer Obsession Team.
• Build vision, architectural decisions, and the next version of platform and services.
• Design and implement platforms and services that directly impact Uber's customers and business.
• Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to ensure cohesive development efforts.
• Champion best software engineering practices such as continuous integration, delivery, and deployment.
• Write quality code and documentation that serves as an example for the team.
• Mentor other engineers and foster a strong culture of quality.
