About The Position

We are seeking a talented and passionate Senior, Software Engineer (Backend) for our Catalog Spec Engineering team. This is a full-time, onsite role at our Sunnyvale, CA office, and immigration sponsorship is not available. You will be responsible for developing high performance and scalable catalog services that meet the needs of millions of Walmart customers. The team specializes in enhancing seller and supplier experiences in setting up their catalog and managing the catalog platform, utilizing a tech stack that includes Java for backend services. The Catalog Spec Engineering team has built the next generation platform where engineers independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues and troubleshoot business and production issues. Requirements

  • 6-8 years of experience as a Sr. Software Engineer.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Java and experience building Java-based backend systems.
  • Extensive experience building and implementing microservices and applications using SpringBoot and reactive frameworks like Spring WebFlux.
  • Experience in internet-scale distributed technologies (e.g. Solr, Kafka, Mem Cache, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of JEE components, multithreading, and networking.
  • Extensive knowledge of offline storage, caching, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with cloud-based solutions and hands-on experience with CI/CD development environments/tools, including Git, Maven, and Jenkins.
  • Strong understanding of CS fundamentals, microservices, data structures, algorithms, and problem solving.
  • Experience working with generated AI/ML technologies.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like Cosmos DB, Cassandra and ability to design and implement scalable data models.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Design & develop highly scalable services and solve complex software system problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology and enhance Walmart catalog and partner experience solutions.
  • Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information and engaging support teams to resolve issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues and ensure compliance with Walmart code of conduct.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members to ensure compliance with Walmart code of conduct.
  • Work in an agile environment, adhering to best practices and collaborating with teams to deliver results.
  • Stay up to date with the latest GenAI trends and technologies and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that improve the seller and supplier experience on our catalog platform.
  • Participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects ensuring on-time delivery.
