About The Position

We build mission-critical infrastructure that delivers massive amounts of public web data to the companies training the world’s most powerful AI models. Our unique architecture leverages a massive, distributed bandwidth-sharing network to operate a large-scale global crawler, granting us access to high-quality public web data at scale. On top of this, we've built complex pipelines for ingesting, segmenting, and annotating billions of files, including videos, transcripts, and audio, empowering frontier AI labs with essential datasets. We are a lean, technical team that moves fast, prioritizing high output and low ego. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) with deep expertise to architect scalable solutions and drive technical excellence as we push the boundaries of open web data and AI. You will join a small, talented team to lead the design and implementation of highly scalable backend systems. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the robustness and maintainability of the infrastructure that supports our massive distributed crawler and data processing pipelines. You will play a critical role in shaping the evolution of the internet's role in AI development.

Requirements

• Education: BS or MS degree in a STEM major or equivalent job experience is required.
• Experience: 4+ years of professional experience in software development, with a track record of writing very high-quality, maintainable code.
• Scalability: Deep knowledge and experience in architecting and building large, highly scalable systems.
• Systems Expertise: In-depth familiarity with contemporary software development processes (CI/CD) and proven experience in identifying and solving issues within intricate, live software systems.
• Communication: Professional or native English language proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Feature Development: Develop new features and implement significant software improvements across our core infrastructure.
• Deployment & Debugging: Test, deploy, and debug complex backend API services in a live production environment.
• Code Quality: Write clear, thoroughly tested, and well-documented code that is both robust and easy to maintain.
• Technical Leadership: Create and review technical designs, documentation, and code, contributing to the overall architectural vision.
• Infrastructure Contribution: Contribute across our infrastructure stack, which includes mobile, desktop, and server-side applications.
• System Integrity: Identify and solve intricate issues within live software systems, upholding best practices in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
