About The Position

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the AI Agents engineering team within the Servicing Engineering organization. Our team works closely with an omnichannel AI agent vendor to provide a conversational first point of contact for our customers. We focus on orchestrating the systems within Affirm to continuously find solutions for our customers. The team is newly formed and taking on big unknowns, so we're looking for someone who wants to take ownership and execute for whatever is necessary.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience in designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component.
• Proficient at making significant changes in a large code base.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team.
• Lead engineers on your team through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Ensure that everyone is supported throughout delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics during the product development lifecycle.
• Participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs.

• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting or improving code review and design standards.
• Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance.
