As a Senior Engineer, this role involves being a technical leader for strategic customer relationships, embedding in their workflows to understand data and automation needs, and architecting integrations to unlock the full potential of Datassential's platform. The position functions as both an engineer and a trusted advisor, working with food manufacturers, distributors, operators, and enterprise accounts to design, build, and optimize integrations connecting Datassential's intelligence with their existing tools and AI-powered ecosystems. The Senior Engineer also serves as a critical feedback loop, providing insights to Datassential's product and engineering teams to shape future platform improvements.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript software languages.
  • Hands-on experience building and consuming REST APIs, webhooks, and streaming data interfaces.
  • Experience with Applied AI, MCP (Model Context Protocol) and/or A2A (Agent-to-Agent) integration patterns.
  • Experience designing integration architectures across heterogeneous enterprise environments (CRMs, ERPs, data warehouses, AI platforms)
  • Comfort working with JSON, data transformation, authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0, API keys, JWT), and cloud infrastructure
  • Ability to write scripts, lightweight automation, and configuration tooling that customers can maintain themselves
  • Genuine passion for customer success—you feel ownership over whether integrations actually work, not just whether they were set up
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both engineering teams and non-technical business stakeholders
  • Strong project management instincts: you can juggle multiple customer engagements simultaneously without dropping the ball
  • A consultative mindset—you ask good questions, listen carefully, and design solutions around real customer needs rather than assumptions
  • Comfort presenting technical architectures and leading discovery conversations at the VP and C-suite level when needed

Nice To Haves

  • Strong software engineering skills in frontend and backend.
  • Familiarity with AI agent orchestration frameworks or enterprise AI tooling
  • Experience contributing to developer documentation, SDKs, or integration guides
  • Prior experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer or similar role at a SaaS company is a plus
  • Experience in the food and beverage, restaurant tech, or CPG industry is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Partner with enterprise customers during onboarding and beyond to understand their technical environments, data workflows, and automation goals
  • Design and implement end-to-end integration solutions using Datassential's MCP, A2A, and REST API infrastructure
  • Help customers connect Datassential's F&B intelligence into their internal platforms, CRMs, data pipelines, AI agents, and enterprise tools
  • Write clean, well-documented integration code, scripts, and configuration resources to accelerate customer time-to-value
  • Lead technical discovery sessions, integration workshops, and architecture reviews with customer engineering and data teams
  • Proactively identify integration bottlenecks and performance issues—and fix them before customers notice
  • Develop reusable integration templates, playbooks, and guides that help scale deployment across the customer base
  • Collaborate closely with Datassential's Product and Engineering teams to translate customer needs into platform improvements
  • Act as a technical escalation point for complex integration issues, working through solutions end-to-end with customers
  • Track customer integration health, usage patterns, and expansion opportunities alongside the Account Management team
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to lead onboarding sessions, integration workshops, and executive reviews—building the kind of trust that only comes from being in the room
