About The Position

At TigerData, formerly Timescale, we empower developers and businesses with the fastest PostgreSQL platform designed for transactional, analytical, and agentic workloads. Trusted globally by thousands of organizations, TigerData accelerates real-time insights, drives intelligent applications, and powers critical infrastructure at scale. As a globally distributed, remote-first team committed to direct communication, accountability, and collaborative excellence, we're shaping the future of data infrastructure, built for speed, flexibility, and simplicity. Tiger Labs is where we build the weird, the fast, and the future-facing. We’re a scrappy, high-trust group inside TigerData focused on inventing, testing, and scaling internal AI tools and developer-facing experiences that redefine what’s possible with Postgres and agentic workloads. This role is for a hands-on generalist who’s equally excited to build for our internal teams and create tools that help other developers build better agents and AI-native apps. You’ll be a builder from day one — no waiting for specs, no hiding behind process. We want someone who’s energized by internal velocity, unbothered by ambiguity, and obsessed with getting useful things in the hands of real users, fast. This is a chance to work across internal and open-source projects, shape our approach to agent tooling, and directly influence how modern dev teams build with AI. TigerData is a remote first company. This is a full time, remote position with a location preference in US East Coast or Europe.

Requirements

  • Are a generalist engineer with 5+ years of experience
  • Care about helping other developers build faster — you know a good DX is a force multiplier
  • Have used AI in production — to build agents, automate workflows, or prototype fast
  • Have solid backend skills (Go, Python, Postgres, etc.), but can jump into frontend if needed
  • Like to move quickly, take ownership, and figure things out without a 20-page brief
  • Are curious, humble, and default to action

Nice To Haves

  • Need heavy structure and long timelines to do your best work
  • Avoid ambiguous problems or early-stage codebases
  • Prefer specializing deeply over shipping broadly
  • Don’t feel comfortable learning and adapting on the fly — especially with AI workflows
  • Prefer to build alone vs. collaborate with product, internal teams, or external devs

Responsibilities

  • Building, maintaining, and improving internal AI tools that support teams across the company — from sales to support to engineering
  • Creating and contributing to open-source tools that help AI developers build agents with PostgreSQL and TigerData
  • Working closely with product, design, and other engineers to get from 0→1 fast — then ship improvements as we learn
  • Making decisions quickly (and pivoting when needed)
  • Bringing a product-minded lens to internal tools — your users might sit in the next Slack channel, but they deserve real UX

Benefits

  • Flexible PTO and comprehensive family leave
  • Fridays off in August
  • Fully remote opportunities globally
  • Stock options for long-term growth
  • Monthly WiFi stipend
  • Professional development and educational resources
  • Premium insurance options for you and your family (US-based employees)
