The Health & Information Systems business unit is seeking a highly motivated leader for teams developing next-gen software products for domestic and international use, both on-premises and in the cloud. This role involves leading the architecture and strategy for Solventum’s enterprise-scale AI/ML data engineering platforms, leveraging cloud-native services. The manager will strategize engineering direction to implement secure, scalable, and compliant AI solutions supporting clinical insights, operational intelligence, and generative AI use cases across Solventum’s healthcare product ecosystem. Key aspects include guiding teams on cloud, data, and model governance patterns to ensure responsible AI, auditability, observability, model monitoring, and regulatory alignment (HIPAA, HITRUST, PHI/PII protections). The position also entails mentoring product leaders, data scientists, and engineering teams by providing deep technical guidance on cloud architecture, ML Ops, integration patterns, and platform modernization efforts, as well as growing and managing a high-performing team while collaborating with partners and customers to build a global, world-class health data engineering organization.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in a Computer Science, Information Systems discipline or related field from an accredited university
Ten (10) years of software development experience
Three (3) year team leadership experience (supervisor, manager, team lead)
Two (2) years of experience leading the design and delivery of agentic AI frameworks and systems (multi-step reasoning, planning, tool use, and autonomous workflows) in production environments.
Two (2) years of deep expertise in LLM architecture and orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, custom agents) and model routing.
Six (6) years of strong background in building scalable distributed systems using modern backend technologies (Python/Java), microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Nice To Haves

Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other established cloud providers
Demonstrated ability to design and enforce AI safety, guardrails, and governance frameworks, including prompt injection defense, data privacy.
Building evaluation and observability systems for AI agents, including automated testing, human in the loop validation, tracing, and scalability.
Experience with consuming Web services and web application development (SOAP/REST, Javascript/Angular)
Experience CI/CD
Experience with Java software development
Familiar with SQL and relational database design
Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience working with distributed team members
Ability to solve problems in a logical, methodical, and time efficient manner
Ability to direct and influence others

Responsibilities

Provide direct technical supervision of one or more teams responsible for developing HIS products, including Developers and Quality Assurance. This includes hiring, establishing and tracking goals and objectives, assigning workload, training, and facilitating the performance review process.
Assist Technical Product Owner for a team working both to deliver HIS grouping content under the existing technology stack while simultaneously architecting and developing the replacement technology stack in a methodical manner.
Set technical direction and establish, prioritize and work with the development team to define and update the team’s backlog in concert with Tech Leads.
Mentor development staff with duties such as analysis, software design, prototyping, coding, debugging, test case creation, test case automation, test case execution, documentation, support, infrastructure maintenance.
Participate on cross-functional teams, coordinate and communicate with Product Owners, Business Leaders, Developers and others.
