Role Overview The Sr. Software Manager of Embedded Engineering will lead the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of firmware across SharkNinja’s global product portfolio. This role reports to and works closely with the VP of Embedded Engineering to shape long ‑ term architecture, drive execution, and elevate engineering excellence across the organization. The ideal leader is equally comfortable setting strategic direction, diving into technical detail, and ensuring day ‑ to ‑ day quality across multiple product lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including3+ years in firmware engineering management roles.
  • Proventrack recorddelivering production ‑ quality firmware for consumer electronics or similarly complex hardware products.
  • Deepexpertisein embedded C/C++, RTOS environments, microcontroller architectures, and hardware/software integration.
  • Strong understanding of firmware development lifecycles, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices for embedded systems.
  • Experience leading global engineering teams and collaborating across time zones and cultures.
  • Demonstratedsuccess running Agile development teams and using Atlassian tools to manage workflow and execution.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder ‑ management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in connected devices, IoT products, or smart home ecosystems.
  • Experience with full-stack architectures integrating mobile apps, cloud services, and embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of device-to-mobile connectivity technologies including BLE, WiFi, and cloud-based communication protocols.
  • Prior experience in consumer electronics, robotics, or hardware-integrated software products.
  • Track record of building diverse, inclusive engineering teams and cultivating healthy team cultures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentorand grow a high ‑ performing embedded engineering organization responsible for firmware development across multiple product categories.
  • Own end ‑ to ‑ end firmware delivery—from architecture and design through implementation, validation, release, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Partner closely with the VP of Embedded Engineering toalign onstrategy, execution, and cross ‑ functional priorities.
  • Work across internal teams—including Controls Engineering, Systems Quality Assurance (SysQA), and other engineering groups—to ensure seamless integration and consistent product performance.
  • Drive Agile development practices across the embedded organization, including sprintor kanbanplanning, execution, and retrospectives using the Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence).
  • Champion engineering excellence by defining and enforcing best practices in coding standards, documentation, testing, CI/CD, and quality assurance.
  • Drive architectural decisions that balance innovation, reliability, scalability, and time ‑ to ‑ market.
  • Establishclear KPIs and quality metrics to ensure firmware stability, performance, and long ‑ term maintainability.
  • Collaborate across global development centers,fosteringalignment, knowledge sharing, and consistent execution.
  • Identifyand mitigate technical risks early, ensuring predictable delivery and high product quality.
  • Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, cultivating a culture of ownership, creativity, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent embedded engineering in executive ‑ level discussions, providing clear communication on progress, risks, and strategic opportunities.
