Senior Software Development Engineer Our Technology Team partners with teams across Expedia Group to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction. We’re the Rates & Inventory Experience team that owns VRBO’s partner calendar and managing every rate plan and inventory across all properties in EG. We bring Expedia Group's innovative technology and distribution solutions to partners across the world. As a partner‑facing unit we design and deliver tools that let partners effortlessly control their listings, while our full‑stack focus—spanning an advanced UI and robust middle layer—ensures a frictionless experience powered by the latest tech stack. Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven expertise in building services using technologies such as Kotlin, Java, GraphQL, React, Typescript, and JavaScript.
  • Proficiency in core concepts like clean architecture, concurrency, micro‑services, and GraphQL/REST API schema design.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • Experience leading technical designs and mentoring other developers.
  • Proficiency in React/Node.js (TypeScript), including Hook‑based patterns, SSR/SSG, performance tuning, and advanced CSS methodologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Github Actions, Jenkins), Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing for high‑traffic, low‑latency workloads utilizing strategies like rate-limiting, caching, and CDNs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable solutions for data capture and real-time data processing across microservice architectures.
  • Solve complex problems in distributed systems, web platform integrations, and high-performance data pipelines
  • Collaborate with TPMs, product managers, and operations in an agile environment to deliver high-quality code to production regularly.
  • Mentor teammates and foster a culture of innovation, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Extend influence beyond your immediate team to collaborate across Expedia Group
