Senior Software Development Engineer (C++ required) Our Technology Team partners with teams across Expedia Group to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. Expedia Flights team is the traffic powerhouse for the Expedia Group and our Flights Shopping Platform is one of the largest in the world serving over 150 million queries a day and powering some of the strongest brands in the industry like Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity. One of the few companies in the world that develops a proprietary flight search engine (called Best Fare Search) which is used by millions of users every single day, Moving one of the world’s biggest flights platforms to AWS, Handle several 100 thousand booking transactions daily and collect terabytes of Flights Data and use Machine Learning to show the right content to our customers. As a Software Development Engineer within the Flights Search team, you will work with a dynamic group of product managers and engineers to deliver a sophisticated, next-generation customer service platform at enterprise scale. You will provide insight and hand’s on engineering as we build an innovative suite of products and services, integrating seamlessly within our broad ecosystem. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated ownership of services, multi-service systems, or domain-level technical initiatives.
• Excellent coding skills in C++ and experience working in large C++ codebases.
• Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

• Experience architecting and operating distributed systems at scale.
• Demonstrated leadership in designing and integrating AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve business and customer outcomes.
• Deep knowledge of data-driven development practices and operational excellence in production environments.
• Track record of driving architectural innovation and delivering solutions across multiple technical domains.
• Advanced understanding of AI/ML lifecycle management and safe integration practices for machine learning capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust, scalable, and maintainable systems, services, and APIs across multiple domains.
• Lead complex system design (including low-level design), API design, and data modeling for high-impact projects.
• Drive technical direction and deliver solutions that leverage AI/ML concepts to enhance product capabilities and outcomes.
• Champion engineering best practices for quality, security, and operational excellence at scale.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver end-to-end technical solutions, ensuring seamless integration with AI-driven tools and workflows.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing within the organization.
