About The Position

The Senior Social Worker position at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital focuses on providing comprehensive care coordination, discharge planning, and psychosocial support services to Veterans, Service Members, and their families within the Spinal Cord Injuries and Disorders Program. This role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care and access to services, while also taking on administrative responsibilities for clinical program development and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work.
  • Current state licensure or certification to practice social work at the master's level.
  • At least two years of post-licensure experience in a specialized area of social work practice, with one year equivalent to GS-11 level.
  • Advanced practice skills and judgment in social work.
  • Ability to provide supervision for licensure.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in spinal cord injury and disorders.
  • Inpatient case management and discharge planning experience.
  • Knowledge of community resources for discharge planning.
  • Crisis intervention experience and ability to develop crisis management plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care coordination and discharge planning for Veterans with spinal cord injuries and disorders.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive health care services.
  • Lead and provide training for social work staff, including in-service training and continuing education programs.
  • Adhere to documentation standards set by accrediting bodies and ensure compliance with service line agreements.
  • Participate in accreditation surveys and ensure standards are met within social work practice.
  • Advise on treatment goals and progress during interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Facilitate access to care by completing necessary documentation for Veterans.
