About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Senior Subject Mater Expert Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. Location: This position is remote. Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities: Implements and optimizes the computerized database systems that support the organization’s and/or customers’ ability to function daily. Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Mains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures and/or triggers. Administers a variety of database systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, and other Database Management Systems (DBMS). Develops and enforces database administration and user standards and procedures; audits, modifies, and amends data in systems using SQL commands. Oversees the scheduling of database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple SQL Servers and remote sites. Assists Database Designers or Information System Analysts in the development and creation of SQL and web-based databases and database systems. Reviews technical designs, reports, documentation, and other materials produced by staff; creates and maintains high-level reporting systems using products such as Crystal Reports; researches and implements new database and online technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience or a Master's degree and 10 years of experience or an Associate's degree and 14 years of experience or a High School diploma/equivalent and 16 years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in database administration, including enterprise-level database systems.
  • Expert-level experience administering and supporting Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database environments, as well as other relational database management systems.
  • Proven experience with database performance tuning, including indexing, query optimization, and system performance analysis.
  • Strong experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning, including replication across multiple environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and maintain secure and highly available database environments.
  • Experience developing and maintaining stored procedures, triggers, and complex SQL queries.
  • Strong knowledge of database security, data integrity, and access controls.
  • Experience establishing and enforcing database standards, policies, and governance practices.
  • Proven ability to support database design, integration, and system architecture efforts.
  • Experience monitoring database performance, analyzing utilization, and providing recommendations for optimization and improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple database environments and support production systems in a 24x7 operational environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with technical teams, leadership, and stakeholders.
