About The Position

This position is responsible for monitoring workplace activities and ensuring compliance with safety protocols while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. Site is in Cohasset, MN.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 7+ years of experience in a related construction safety role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety industry.
  • Demonstrates industry knowledge and independent judgment to make decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have the ability to communicate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to effectively train positively influences and motivates others.
  • Proven problem-solving, time management, and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new programs and applications.
  • Employees are frequently required to walk on uneven surfaces, and occasionally required to kneel, limb, reach, stoop, climb, crouch or crawl.
  • This position requires the ability to lift files, open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
  • This position may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • This job operates at job sites and is exposed to hazards typical of a construction site, regularly requiring work boots, hard hat, high visibility vest, eye protection and gloves.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, Risk Management or related field preferred.
  • Experience in the electrical industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the on-site Senior Safety Representative on the jobsite, collaborating with project teams to ensure adherence to safety standards and foster a culture of safety excellence.
  • Develop professional relationships with General Foreman, Project Managers, and field employees through strong leadership to promote a safety driven culture.
  • Educate field staff regarding safety procedures and processes.
  • Provide toolbox talks, formal training and coaching and consultations with field staff.
  • Inspect company operations to determine compliance with safety standards.
  • Inspect temporary electrical installations.
  • Perform ergonomic risk assessments.
  • Recommend corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance with established regulations.
  • Responsible for formal audit reporting.
  • Interpret customer safety requirements and develop site specific safety plans accordingly.
  • Implement customer safety processes and requirements.
  • Distribute educational materials for review.
  • Report findings of near miss, incident, and injury investigations and provide corrective action follow up.
  • Report corrections and progress to Safety Manager as requested.
  • Elevate concerns as needed.
  • Analyze processes, behaviors and incident trends.
  • Recommend process improvements where indicated.
