About The Position

The Senior Silicon Photonics Quality and Reliability Engineer will develop, implement, and enforce quality and reliability standards and procedures for Silicon Photonics PIC products to meet Coherent's stringent criteria. This role involves leading industry-leading process certification, product qualification, test and manufacturing quality efforts, overseeing product lifecycle management from inception to end-of-life. The engineer will work closely with internal product development teams, offering comprehensive support across all stages of product development. Additionally, the engineer will act as a proactive advocate for Design for Quality and Reliability, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders. Responsibilities also include contributing to defining reliability requirements and developing automated screening methodologies for Silicon Photonic PIC products, aligning with corporate quality standards and goals. The engineer will conduct risk assessments, manage material containment and excursions, and lead investigations and failure analyses to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • BS/MS/PhD in Material Science, Physics, Photonics, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product certification, test and manufacturing quality, and reliability engineering.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, 8D, and Fishbone analysis.
  • Extensive background in Photonic device fabrication and backend processing.
  • Familiarity with integrating silicon photonic PICs in optical transceivers.
  • Familiarity with reliability statistics, Physics of Failure (PoF), and failure analysis methodologies.
