About The Position

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Senior Shipper & Receiver (2nd Shift) - CDL Required to join our growing team.  Who we are  VPI Quality Windows is a commercial division of JELD-WEN, Inc. that focuses on manufacturing windows and patio doors for multi-family construction with a particular focus on apartments, dormitories, senior living, and hotels.     Job Overview  The primary role of Commercial Driver/Shipper (2nd Shift) is to perform tasks with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.  Level 1 Commercial Driver/Shipper starts at $24.57/hr with benefits.     What We Do  Prepare vinyl lineals for production using a lamination process  Saw and machine vinyl and metal to prepare for window and door assembly utilizing CNC saws and mills.  Assemble and glaze windows and patio doors through an assembly line process.

Requirements

  • This role requires you to have and maintain a CDL
  • This role requires consistent physical activity throughout the shift, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with team assistance.
  • Work may involve repetitive motions and working in a fast-paced assembly line manufacturing environment
  • Employees must be able to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day on hard surfaces.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and climbing may be required to access materials and operate equipment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, and employees are expected to maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Stable work history with preferred 2 – 3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proven problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Works well in a team environment with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Process-driven with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Assists co-workers in analyzing and correcting problems encountered in job assignments to perform work according to standard work procedures and instructions
  • Daily pallet jack inspection looking at the condition of the equipment to make sure there is no damage from previous shifts.
  • Load skids of finished windows from production into trailers safely and efficiently.
  • Secure and properly tie down windows to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Accurately select and stage completed window orders for shipment.
  • Inspect all windows prior to loading to ensure quality, count, and order accuracy.
  • Verify paperwork and labels match production schedules and shipping requirements.
  • Communicate with Shipping Lead and production teams regarding load priorities, order readiness, and special handling needs.
  • Palletize, band, wrap, stage, and load window skids according to shipping standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and properly care for loading equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures while loading, securing, and moving window products.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Group Manager.
  • Move trailers in accordance with delivery and production needs to ensure OTIF and OTD
  • Operate a tractor trailer
  • Complete pre-inspection checklist prior to operating the tractor trailer
  • Learn duties and responsibilities of the material handler to help as needed
  • Overtime may be required, sometimes on short notice, to meet production goals.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned by the Supervisor or Manager as needed to support operations.
