About The Position

Senior Server Network Engineer Responsibilities for an engineer include researching new technologies and upgrades and determining their effectiveness; engineering and integrating new and existing technologies, tools, and applications into the PHS environment; documenting decisions, designs, and installation instructions; and training the appropriate internal resources. On call support is usually a requirement for an Engineer. These responsibilities span the Providence Health System facilities throughout the Oregon region. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree -OR- a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
  • Upon hire: IT engineering certifications (MCSE, MCSD, or CNE) may be considered to supplement experience.
  • 6 or more years of IT related experience.
  • 4 or more years of industry experience supporting production level Windows servers in a 24x7 environment.
  • Experience providing technical and/or work process guidance and direction to team members.
  • Experience creating, assigning and following up on tasks across multiple technology disciplines.
  • Experience in two or more of the following sub-specialties associated with Windows based server management: Active Directory, Virtual Machine, Linux-based OS, Citrix, Exchange Server, IIS, SAN, Back-ups, DNS/DHCP/WINS, Design and Architecture, Print Services, specific business critical applications, Anti-Virus deployment and support.
  • Experience of the customers business (operational area supported).
  • Information Services experience providing support, preferably in a healthcare industry setting.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of hands-on operations and design experience with firewalls, load balancers, wireless access points/controllers, and DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IPAM solutions) or relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on operations and design experience with AWS VPC, Subnets, Transit Gateways and Routes, Peering, Centralized Network Design, Cross Region and Cross Availability Zone implementations, and both VPN as well as Direct Connect configuration.
  • Hands-on administration experience of cloud networking services or relevant experience.
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting large-scale data center networks and WAN/LANs.
  • Field experience in network administration and engineering.
  • Hands-on operations and design experience with Cisco 5k, 7k, 9k core stacks and Cisco ASR.
  • Hands-on operations and design experience with Arista CVaaS, Spine/Leaf (7358X4, 720XP, 7050SX3, 7280CR3, 7280SR3, 7280SR3K).
