Senior Security Systems Engineer
About The Position
We are looking for a Senior Security Systems Engineer to provide technical support for ByteDance’s security systems and applications. The Senior Security Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and seamless integration of enterprise security systems across the organization. This role requires deep expertise in Lenel to support advanced system configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization. The Senior Security Systems Engineer will provide advanced technical support by troubleshooting complex system issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders. The engineer collaborates closely with internal R&D teams to support system integration efforts and partners with external vendors to drive timely issue resolution and system improvements. Serving as a primary point of contact for security system providers, this individual conducts regular system health checks, oversees upgrades in alignment with industry standards, and enhances system functionality through rigorous testing and validation. This position plays a critical role in maintaining secure, stable, and efficient operations on a global scale. This is a full-time position with an on-site work schedule out of ByteDance’s San Jose office. This position offers competitive benefits.
Requirements
- Lenel US OnGuard Fundamentals 8.3 Certification (required).
- 5+ years of experience programming and administering enterprise-wide physical security systems, including large-scale, multi-site deployments.
- 5+ years of experience integrating security systems across multiple platforms and technologies, including API-based integrations and data exchange workflows.
- Knowledge of network construction, operation and maintenance, and/or routing infrastructure.
- Experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale distributed security systems, with some experience in interface development.
- Proven experience supporting or leading enterprise-wide security applications, including access control, video management systems (VMS), visitor management, and related platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent technical projects with minimal supervision, delivering high-quality results on time and within scope.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and diplomatically across technical and non-technical teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, and/or relevant industry certifications.
Nice To Haves
- Lenel US Advanced Access Control 8.3 Certification (preferred).
- Experience in database, operating system, and server management and maintenance (preferred).
- Experience in one or more programming languages, such as Shell and Python scripting, as well as SQL (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to users, record reported system issues, analyze and identify root causes, recommend solutions, fix issues, provide status updates to users, and provide regular incident reports and updates to management.
- Provide guidance to internal R & D team members on the integration between internally developed applications and security systems.
- Coordinate with the security system vendors to ensure that the vendors resolves unresolved issues raised by the internal R & D team in a timely manner. Regularly record issues and provide status updates to management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the security system vendors. Attend regular meetings with the security system vendors as needed.
- Regularly conduct system health checks to ensure that the security systems operates safely, stably, and efficiently worldwide.
- Upgrade applications and systems according to supplier recommendations to ensure that the version used complies with standard operations.
- Enhance existing software functionality and develop direct system testing and verification procedures.
