About The Position

This position is responsible for the security of an outpatient location and/or serves as an active field training officer for an assigned shift, providing support and maintaining a secured environment for staff, physicians, patients, and visitors. The Senior Security Officer must possess advanced knowledge of the unique security department operations at the Medical Center and be capable of operating independently to assist multiple areas and departments. Senior Officers will assist Department Administration and on-site property managers in the management of patient property and investigation functions. They are expected to be highly knowledgeable about departmental operations and training processes. The Senior Security Officer provides ongoing field training services for newly hired security officers and/or performs security services for offsite Medical Center facilities and locations. This includes facilitating monthly meetings with newly hired employees to review progress and assess knowledge, skills, and abilities, continuing these meetings during the employee’s one-year probationary period, and submitting feedback to the employee’s manager. This role performs public and patient safety functions, including securing property by patrolling buildings and grounds, staffing fixed security posts, monitoring persons entering and leaving facilities, and monitoring cameras, security, and alarm systems. The position requires responding to emergencies as part of regular responsibilities and maintaining specific levels of training and knowledge related to the various properties secured. This position will also lead after-action incident debriefings with clinical staff and ensure impacted employees have access to emotional support resources. They assist in overseeing and managing patient property and valuables, investigating patient property losses or thefts, Medical Center thefts, and employee accidents assigned to the Security Department for follow-up, ensuring complete and accurate reports with recommendations are submitted. This position requires limited supervision, and work may be expected without well-defined procedures or instructions. It also involves reporting Public Safety and Security concerns and performing all other necessary security department functions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • 2 years of relevant experience required
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License
  • Must serve 12 months probationary period from date of employment
  • Selected candidate is subject to successful completion of a psychological evaluation
  • Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check
  • A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process
  • Advanced knowledge of the unique security department operations at the Medical Center
  • Highly knowledgeable about departmental operations and training processes
  • Required to maintain specific levels of training and knowledge relating to the various property they secure

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in relevant field may be preferred
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience preferred
