Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Senior Security Officer (Armed) is responsible for the performance of all security and safety duties as assigned. This includes providing an armed, uniformed security presence throughout St. Joseph’s Health (SJH) campuses. The officer will assess threats, provide immediate response to, and mitigate offenses against public order, life, and safety of colleagues, staff, patients, visitors, and others on and within the buildings and grounds of SJH. Offenses or events requiring investigation and thorough reporting will be made and submitted to the Lead Security Officer and other SJH Leadership. Coordination with law enforcement agencies based on threat assessment and offenses is also part of the role. The position requires working a weekend and holiday rotation on an evening shift from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Provide armed, uniformed security presence throughout SJH campuses.
Assess threats and provide immediate response to mitigate offenses against public order and safety.
Investigate offenses or events and submit reports to the Lead Security Officer and SJH Leadership.
Coordinate with law enforcement agencies based on threat assessments.
Perform security/safety rounds and fixed post assignments.
De-escalate workplace violence and mitigate threats.
Conduct searches of patients, visitors, and staff in accordance with policy.
Complete thorough and professional written reports of all assigned investigations.
Maintain confidentiality of all investigations and situations.
Operate departmental equipment safely and maintain proficiency.

Valid State of New York Armed Security Guard License or active police officer status in New York State.
Successful completion of the DCJS Basic Course for Police Officers preferred.
High School Diploma/GED Certificate required; Associate degree preferred.
Valid NYS Drivers License required.
IAHSS Basic Security Certification must be completed within one year of hire.
FEMA Emergency Management Institute courses must be completed within 90 days of hire.
BLS Certification required upon hire or within 3 weeks of hire.
Minimum of five (5) years experience in armed security, healthcare security, or law enforcement.
Knowledge of New York State Penal Law and Criminal Procedure Law.

Five (5) years of Law Enforcement Experience preferred.
Knowledge and understanding of the use of force continuum in a private security setting.

$3,000 New Hire Sign on Bonus
Full Time Evening shift
Competitive pay range of $25.00 - $35.70 based on experience, skills, and education.
