About The Position

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities. Google Threat Intelligence Group is hiring a Security Engineer to be embedded with Google DeepMind. This role is all about finding evil in the AI space and using what we learn in the AI space to improve AI related security within Google DeepMind as an embedded engineer. As a Senior Security Engineer, you will understand threat landscape for both criminal and state-backed threat activity, as well as understanding of adversary tradecraft used across the full intrusion lifecycle and an in-depth understanding of AI models and classifiers.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
  • 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
  • 5 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
  • 1 year of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience identifying and prioritizing cyber threats for investigation, threat actor attribution, threat tracking, and analysis of complex attack chains across the full intrusion lifecycle.
  • Experience with technical analysis, including the development of file, host, and network signatures leveraging multiple malware and network detection platforms, static and dynamic malware analysis, host forensics or other technical topics.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and lead research into how threat actors are using and attacking AI systems. Monitor and analyze threat activity across the AI Threats Mission prioritized data sources, perform threat clustering, deep analysis of tradecraft or Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) involved, and document research findings in intelligence platforms.
  • Hunt for threat actor activity across data sources, and develop automatable signal logic (e.g., queries, rules, scripts, signatures, etc.), that help operationalize our ability to surface important threat activity at scale.
  • Integrate Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) Intelligence with Google DeepMind to improve detection capabilities.
  • Develop scripts and other automations to collect and process subsets of data to facilitate intelligence analysis, support the team in driving automation requirements into larger engineering efforts and systems.
