About The Position

Edgewater Federal Solutions seeks an experienced Senior Security Engineer to support the IT Governance, Information Security & Outreach section of the Division of S&R seeks the services of an contracted employee to serve as a senior security engineer and work alongside section team members related to the Executive Order on Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity. This work will be conducted onsite in Washington, DC.

Requirements

  • Possess an active United States Government National Security Secret clearance or higher-level clearance or a Tier 4 background investigation
  • Possess a master’s degree in information security or related field
  • Possesses at least 10 years’ experience supporting information security strategies in large organizations
  • Possess experience implementing security architecture strategies including Zero Trust Architecture, Data at Rest Encryption and Multi-factor Authentication
  • Possess experience with cloud, multi-cloud, and hybrid cloud strategy, migration, and security strategies, especially GovCloud
  • Possess experience with network security, segmentation, micro-segmentation strategy, design, and implementation
  • Possess experience assessing risk and developing mitigation strategies
  • Possess experience working with IT security strategies in government
  • Possess cyber security certifications (i.e., CASP, CISA, CISM, CISSP)
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • The successful candidate is self-motivated, has strong analytical skills, possesses the ability to learn quickly and can handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Review and provide recommendations to enhance S&R IT strategic architecture and security roadmap and plans to further protect S&R information and systems
  • Support the design and implementation of a robust security infrastructure that protects S&R data and systems (both on-premises and in the cloud) from internal and external threats.
  • Enhance S&R’s understanding of the Cybersecurity Executive Order including the Zero Trust Architecture and implications to the S&R business line
  • Identify and recommend actionable approaches for adoption of the Cybersecurity Executive Order requirements
  • Assist in preparing and conducting security briefings to leadership and stakeholders
  • Review and recommend changes to architecture and information security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures
  • Participates in, and conducts, special studies and projects relating to architecture and security
