About The Position

The Senior Scrum Lead is a senior professional who holds a leadership role in managing and enhancing MetLife Legal Plans' Agile Project Management practice. This individual is responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of MLP’s Scrum Teams. The Senior Scrum Lead a critical role in ensuring the implementation of features in MLP’s application landscape. A Senior Scrum Lead should possess a strong background in Agile Project Management, IT risk management, cybersecurity, and information security. Leadership qualities, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders are essential for success in this role. Staying informed about industry trends, emerging threats, and changes in regulatory requirements is also crucial.

Requirements

  • 5+ years related experience as an Agile project team member with strong knowledge of Agile principles, concepts, and methodology.
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering or Project Management focusing on product development and Agile development.
  • Advanced presentation, influencing, facilitation and relationship management skills.
  • Comfortable discussing business functions, operations, strategies, and objectives.
  • Experience leading training and workshops.
  • Thought leader in applying new concepts and coaching approaches to the Scrum Lead community.
  • Ability to explain and influence reporting shift from waterfall to Agile metrics.
  • One or more Scrum Certifications: Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Product Owner (CSPO), Certified ScrumLead (CSM), Professional ScrumLead (PSM), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification (SSM, SASM)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead up to 2-3 onshore scrum teams in moderate complexity workstreams.
  • Facilitate daily stand-ups, iteration reviews and iteration planning ceremonies to ensure full team engagement.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to support short and long-term release planning, while maintaining a healthy team backlog ready for delivery.
  • Shield the teams from external interference to enable optimal functionality and productivity.
  • Anticipate and address or escalate potential or actual impediments to team delivery (cultural barriers, logistic challenges).
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Architect and other Scrum Leads to remove impediments across collaborating teams.
  • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Track and report on Agile team metrics (Burndown/up, velocity), escalating issues as needed.
  • Coach teams through the exploration and adoption of agile engineering practice (e.g., test automation, CI/CD, BDD, TDD, Agile Architecture).
  • Contribute best practices in Scrum Lead Community of Practice.
  • Aware of and adhere to audit/compliance requirements for execution.
