About The Position

The Department of Inflammation at AMGEN Inc. is currently seeking a dedicated senior scientist to contribute to our research efforts in developing new treatments for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. This role requires a commitment to developing a deep understanding of the pathogenic mechanisms that underlie inflammatory diseases. In this vital role, you will be driving discovery efforts to identify how Amgen's innovative modalities can improve the lives of patients who suffer from inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and related co-morbidities. Identify new therapeutic targets, execute on existing targets and conduct preclinical validation. The candidate should remain informed about scientific advancements in inflammatory diseases, drug screening methods, and the evolving landscape of unmet needs in patients with these conditions. Independently design, perform, and analyze laboratory experiments encompassing in vitro, ex vivo, in silico, and in vivo methodologies. This includes troubleshooting, optimizing assays, collecting data, interpreting results, and conducting biostatistical analyses. Summarize and synthesize data across experiments and present findings across all levels at AMGEN, at scientific conferences and by publishing scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. Participate as a key intellectual and technical contributor in cross-functional drug development teams. Perform effectively in a team-based or collaborative environment as part of a highly integrated team. Exhibit excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, produce reliable and reproducible results, multitask efficiently, and coordinate multiple projects confidently.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree or Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in biology, immunology or a related discipline with over 5 years of experience in immunology-related research.
  • Demonstrated track record of independent scientific contributions in immunology.
  • Experience with small and large molecule drug discovery.
  • Proficiency in immuno-pharmacological techniques such as in vitro and ex-vivo immune cell-based assays, ELISA, MSD, and flow cytometry-based immune cell profiling.
  • Experience with primary cell culture, functional screening, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-Seq), CRISPR/Cas9, and omics data analysis.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in team environments with strong documentation and laboratory management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A creative and innovative approach to identify and validate novel targets and therapeutic approaches.
