About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Virginia (UVA) within the School of Medicine, seeks applications for a Senior Scientist to support research activities within the Division of Outreach. The Division of Outreach is aimed at providing a community driven approach to clinical research, education, and care delivery, with a focus on substance use disorder and mental health care delivery, education, and research. Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing and implementing research and clinical and community education programs. Epidemiological trends will be factored into building curriculum and fostering interprofessional collaboration in education design. Output will include technology enabled innovation to research and address mental health and substance use disorder needs and trends. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the Director to procure and bolster clinical, research, and community partnerships within the department, across UVA Grounds, the region, and nationally and internationally. This will include building interdisciplinary teams for education, collaborative funding proposals and applications, and research output. Further goals include increasing access to care and resources. The candidate will engage in the submission of applications that will fund community and clinical education and research related to substance use disorders and mental health. Applications may explore opportunities to use telemedicine and other technology enabled mechanisms to connect individuals and communities with mental health providers, education, and resources.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree, preferably in a medical research or clinical field (MD, DO, PhD, DPH, DNP, PsyD etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years managing a clinical research program and will have experience managing telemedicine programs and familiarity with informatics and electronic health record logistics.
  • Experience managing Project ECHO or similar medical and community education programs.
