Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Food Science, Meat Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in product development within the food or meat industry. Meat or seasonings experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in leading product innovation projects from concept through commercialization.
  • Proven ability to drive strategic research initiatives, influence technical decisions, and create business value through innovation.
  • Expertise in formulation and ingredient functionality within meat applications, with strong capability in product sensory evaluation.
  • Strong experience in cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, and customer engagement.
  • Ability to travel (20%) for customer meetings, upscale trials, factory visits, and industry conferences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with adaptability to new technical platforms.
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and scientific excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and optimization of innovative seasoning solutions for meat products through dry blend delivery systems, including rubs, marinades, and brines.
  • Apply advanced meat science expertise and culinary creativity to develop, test, and validate formulations, ensuring excellence in taste and functionality.
  • Serve as a technical expert and trusted advisor to customers, leading capability presentations, collaborative work sessions, and strategic problem-solving discussions.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations using standardized methodologies, providing insights that shape flavor innovation strategies.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including regulatory, commercial, and operations groups, to ensure seamless product execution and compliance with industry standards.
  • Lead and mentor junior scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and creative problem-solving.
  • Guide the upscaling process by providing expertise in troubleshooting, commercialization, and material performance, ensuring successful plant implementation.
