About The Position

The Senior Scientist I will be instrumental in developing downstream purification processes for various biologics modalities, including monoclonal antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, and gene therapies. This role involves innovative experimental design and modeling to address scientific challenges in biologics development, ensuring effective scale-up and technology transfer. The position requires collaboration across functions to enhance process efficiency and implement advanced technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree with typically 10 years of experience, Master's Degree with typically 8 years of experience, or PhD with 0-2 years of experience.
• Preferred education in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, biochemistry, biochemical engineering, or biotechnology.
• Strong preference for experience in data engineering, data science, machine learning, and process optimization.
• Experience in purification process development is strongly preferred.
• Experience in continuous manufacturing is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present research outcomes effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and capability to coordinate and execute important projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop recovery and purification processes utilizing clarification, chromatography, and membrane filtration technologies for monoclonal antibodies, bispecifics, and ADCs.
• Design and execute process development and characterization activities, including impurity and viral clearance studies.
• Responsible for technology transfer to pilot lab and cGMP manufacturing facilities, troubleshooting, and investigation activities.
• Provide person-in-plant support for pilot and/or cGMP manufacturing campaigns.
• Leverage data science and engineering technology to develop digital tools, databases, and visualization platforms.
• Proactively seek innovative modeling, machine learning, and AI solutions to accelerate process development.
• Implement and advance innovative technologies such as continuous manufacturing and automation.
• Demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity in research or development activities, capable of authoring publications and patents.
• Adhere to corporate standards regarding safety, material handling, GxP compliance, and animal care.
