We are seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist/Group Manager to join our Tampa, FL office. This role will lead and manage a group of junior and senior scientists as well as participate in projects throughout the state of Florida and beyond. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to support utility, transportation, port, aviation, and water resource efforts. Projects include a wide range of focus, from restoration, sustainability, resiliency, nature-based solutions, and mitigation to permitting. You will have opportunities to lead technical execution of ecological projects and participate in business development. The Ecological Sciences group at AtkinsRéalis focuses on independent science-based projects as well as project support for the engineering disciplines. Efforts include water quality and quantity evaluations, seagrass restoration, threatened and endangered species surveys, seagrass and wetland delineations, tree surveys, and permitting.

Requirements

  • B.S., B.A., M.S., in a field of Science such as Environmental Science, Marine Science, Biology, Ecology, or other related natural science.
  • At least ten years' experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, technical writing, computer and communication skills.
  • Project management experience for environmental projects including execution and preparation of scope of work, budgets, and schedules.
  • Desire and ability to lead business development efforts, develop and maintain client relationships, and lead and deliver work.
  • Participation in projects with large-scale consultation needs with USACE, USFWS and FWC.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications (e.g., PWS, CSE, PMP) considered a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of junior and senior staff, including mentorship, performance reviews, and administrative tasks.
  • Engage in business development, including client interfacing, identifying new opportunities, and preparing proposals for federal, state, and local projects.
  • Manage projects from both internal and external clients, balancing workloads and adhering to client expectations, budgets, and schedules.
  • Lead and assist with field activities, research, and compilation of data to support ecological data collection, regulatory permitting and compliance, as well as reporting.
  • Independently interface with both internal and external clients and regulatory staff to accomplish project directives.
