The goal of our lab is to move the field of intestinal biology in a manner that will ultimately improve care for those affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD: Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis) and colon cancer. We study disease-relevant cell and organ signaling pathways using modern molecular biology, animal models (mice), human tissues, and organoids (mouse and human derived) with the goal of developing new therapeutic approaches to treat these diseases. This specific position will focus on studying how tryptophan metabolism regulates growth and therapeutic resistance in the normal and neoplastic intestinal mucosa. The successful candidate will collaborate on designing, conducting and reporting of research projects which use animal (mouse) models, cancer and organoid cell lines, as well as human biospecimens.
