About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join the Discovery Oncology group. This is a lab-based position at our South San Francisco site. The ideal candidate must possess strong scientific knowledge and technical skills. They will be responsible for supporting and leading research projects focused on developing cancer therapeutics. The ideal candidate should work independently and excel in a collaborative team environment. Daily responsibilities include developing and optimizing assays, designing and executing well-controlled experiments, analyzing data, interpreting results, troubleshooting arising issues, and generating actionable insights to help drive project decision-making. The Senior Scientist will present progress updates at internal team and departmental meetings and will contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree with 0-2 years of postdoctoral experience in cancer biology, pharmacology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field, or M.S. degree with 4+ years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical Industry, or B.S. degree with 7+ years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical Industry
  • Experience developing research projects, ideally demonstrated by publications, presentations, abstracts, and/or work in the industry
  • Cell culture and cell-based assays, including isolation and handling of primary human cells and tissues (e.g. PBMC, tumors)
  • Multi-color flow cytometry, cell viability assays, cell line engineering (e.g., CRISPR, RNAi, target over-expression), ELISA
  • Data analysis with a sound understanding of statistical concepts and software such as GraphPad Prism and FlowJo
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to collaborate with in vivo pharmacology scientists to support endpoint sample analysis
  • Technical expertise in cell sorting, western blotting, imaging techniques, cell signaling, biochemical assays
