About The Position

About C4 Therapeutics: C4 Therapeutics (C4T) (Nasdaq: CCCC) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to delivering on the promise of targeted protein degradation science to create a new generation of medicines that transform patients’ lives. C4T is progressing targeted oncology programs through clinical studies and leveraging its TORPEDO® platform to efficiently design and optimize small-molecule medicines to address difficult-to-treat diseases. C4T’s degrader medicines are designed to harness the body’s natural protein recycling system to rapidly degrade disease-causing proteins, offering the potential to overcome drug resistance, drug undruggable targets and improve patient outcomes. Job Summary We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Lead Discovery group, with primary responsibility for developing, optimizing, and routinely running biochemical and biophysical assays. You will support small‑molecule drug discovery efforts and contribute biochemical insight to targeted protein degradation programs as part of multidisciplinary teams. You will generate and integrate high quality experimental data that enables structure-activity relationship (SAR) development and help drive progression of discovery programs. Your passion for hands-on, scientific, lab-based work, enthusiasm for approaching experimental challenges with creativity and scientific rigor, and pride in delivering clear, actionable insights will be key to your success in this role. Through your understanding of the dynamics of multidisciplinary discovery teams in organizations of similar size and stage, your contributions, both in dynamic team settings and through your execution of individual action items, will be key to delivering on the promise of targeted protein degradation to patients across a wide variety of disease areas. Your Role Design, develop, and execute biochemical and biophysical assays, including protein binding (e.g., SPR) and functional activity assays, to support hit identification, SAR development, and lead optimization. Analyze and integrate results across multiple assay formats and discovery inputs to generate clear, program-relevant interpretation—helping drive SAR decisions, compound prioritization, and next step experimental strategy. Communicate results proactively and transparently to project teams, including interpretation, limitations, and recommended next experiments; enable timely feedback and decision-making through clear, consistent scientific updates. Apply creative scientific thinking to troubleshoot assays, refine experimental approaches, and solve technical challenges while maintaining high standards for data quality and reproducibility. Operate as a strong team scientist while maintaining clear ownership of deliverables: prioritize effectively, execute with urgency, and follow through on commitments that support project goals. Support targeted protein degradation (TPD) programs by applying biochemical and biophysical approaches that inform binding, mechanism, and compound progression; familiarity with TPD as a therapeutic modality is preferred. Demonstrate “scientific leadership at the bench” consistent with Senior Scientist scope—independently designing and executing work, building leadership within the sub-functional area in the context of discovery projects, and effectively influencing project direction through data and insight.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent in biochemistry, biophysics, or a closely related discipline with a minimum of six years of post-graduate experience in an academic or life science setting, showing progressive deepening of expertise, and roles of increased scientific leadership, in biochemical and biophysical approaches to studying protein–ligand interactions, with demonstrated experience supporting small molecule discovery programs.
  • Experience working effectively on multidisciplinary discovery teams, contributing insight and mentorship, as well as demonstrating requisite communication, organizational, and time-management skills, with a track record of clearly conveying data interpretation, limitations, and next steps with a high sense of personal accountability.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and executing robust biochemical and biophysical assays, including functional activity and binding-based methods, to enable hit identification, SAR development, and lead optimization.
  • Proven ability to generate high-quality, reproducible data and integrate results across multiple assay formats to inform compound prioritization and experimental strategy.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced discovery environment, bringing creativity, rigor, and a strong passion for advancing transformative therapeutics.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in targeted protein degradation, with the ability to characterize heterobifunctional degraders and molecular glue molecules.
  • Proven experience managing CRO partnerships to ensure timely delivery of high-quality data.
