About The Position

Novo Nordisk is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead process development in the RNAi Chemical Development group in Boulder, Colorado. This role focuses on the enzymatic ligation of oligonucleotides and biocatalytic processes related to RNA synthesis, contributing to the development of sustainable manufacturing methods for oligonucleotides and API candidates.

Requirements

• PhD or MS degree in oligonucleotide chemistry, biochemistry, biocatalysis, enzymology, structural biology, or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of nucleic acid/oligonucleotide chemistry and standard analytical methods.
• 6+ years of experience with oligonucleotides and/or biocatalysis in discovery, development, and scale-up of enzyme-catalyzed reactions.
• Outstanding aptitude for experimental design, assay development, and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with GMP and regulatory requirements in drug development.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute development projects directed at biocatalytic methods of oligonucleotide production.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in enzyme classes relevant to nucleic acid production, including enzyme screening and protein engineering.
• Direct internal and external research projects focusing on sustainable oligonucleotide manufacturing.
• Contribute to the design of laboratory space for enzymology and biocatalysis research.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams within Novo Nordisk and external partners.
• Compose technical reports and track sustainability metrics.
• Transfer biochemical and bioanalytical methods to CMOs/CROs and guide outsourced studies.
