About The Position

The Senior Environmental Scientist / Associate Project Manager supports low- to high-complexity, multi-media, multi-contaminant remediation projects. This role is responsible for planning and executing field activities, evaluating laboratory and field data, and preparing technical deliverables under the direction of a Project Manager or Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP). Work may be performed independently or as part of a project team; in team settings, this role provides technical direction and oversight. The position includes responsibility for meeting project objectives related to scope, schedule, and budget, training and mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with clients, Project Managers, and LSRPs, including participation in technical discussions with the NJDEP.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree in geology, biology, environmental science or similar science degree and experience in complex, multi-media investigation and remediation with an environmental consulting firm in NJ
  • Well versed in NJDEP’s Technical Guidance Documents and Technical Requirements for Site Remediation
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
  • Flexible to work outside of normal business hours as required
  • 40-hr OSHA training
  • NJ Subsurface Evaluator/UST Closure License
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Professional licenses are desirable
  • A master’s degree in one of the above listed fields is a plus
  • Experienced with due diligence requirements and commercial and industrial property transactional requirements

Responsibilities

  • Prepare remedial investigation and action reports primarily in an office setting, while overseeing complex field investigations and remediation activities as required
  • Design and implement remedial activities under the direction of a Project Manager/LSRP
  • Provide sound technical recommendations and support to Project Managers/LSRPs
  • Prepare NJDEP regulatory deliverables, including PARs, SIRs, RIRs, RAWs, RARs, and soil and groundwater permit applications
  • Establish and adhere to project goals, schedules, and budgets
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Train, mentor, and oversee junior staff
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to enhance investigation and remediation methodologies and sampling techniques
  • Support Project Managers/LSRPs in NJDEP technical meetings
