About The Position

The Senior Scientific Technical Writer will support the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by preparing scientific manuscripts, abstracts, and various technical documents. This role involves drafting content for diverse audiences, conducting extensive research, and creating high-quality presentations. The position is a long-term contract with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for both on-site and remote work.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, Communications, Public Health, or related discipline.
• Strong writing and editing skills to analyze and translate information related to drug use and addiction.
• Experience analyzing scientific data to generate reports, briefing materials, and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Support the Office of the Director within NIDA with the preparation of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, and related documents.
• Draft language for scientific and technical documents including speeches, reports, and articles for various audiences.
• Prepare presentations and organize data in forms such as figures, graphics, and PowerPoint presentations.
• Perform scientific editing, proofreading, and fact-checking for assigned materials.
• Conduct extensive research on neuroscience topics using journals and databases like PubMed.
• Review reports and articles related to drug use to write scientific materials and prepare presentations.
• Gather data from NIH databases and write papers and presentations.
• Review, analyze, and interpret data to develop analytical materials and summaries of NIDA activities.
