About The Position

Alterman is seeking a Senior Scheduler to join our team in San Antonio, TX. Overview: The Senior Scheduler is responsible for overseeing the scheduling and coordination of all assigned projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and maintaining timelines to meet project deadlines. The Senior Scheduler is responsible for larger, more complex projects and for providing mentorship and training to direct reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience as a Scheduler, or in similar role in the electrical contracting or construction industry required.
  • Primavera certification required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of general construction and electrical sequencing of commercial and industrial projects required.
  • Deep understanding of CPM (Critical Path Method), float, and dependencies (FS, SS, FF, etc.) required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and trends.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality in scheduling and timeline management.
  • Effective reasoning and judgement abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, or other related software.
  • Proficient with scheduling software (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, etc.) and familiarity with project management methodologies.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Capable of reading, interpreting, and understanding all contract documents and requirements.
  • Able to demonstrate and maintain a working knowledge of trade terms, material, bidding methods, codes, contract, and specification language.
  • Able to complete scheduling related continuous education.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experiencing managing or leading team preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains comprehensive project schedules using scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project), establishing realistic project timelines and milestones based on project scope and contractual obligations.
  • Collaborates with the Estimating and Project Management teams to create the best possible schedule, maximize profit opportunities, maximize productivity, and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinates with project managers, external engineers, and subcontractors to integrate project plans into master schedules.
  • Generates three-week look ahead schedules for assigned projects.
  • Identifies potential risks to project schedules and develops contingency plans to mitigate risks.
  • Monitors and updates schedules to reflect changes in scope, delays, or other adjustments.
  • Accurately updates activities, remaining duration, and percentage complete based on field reports or tracking.
  • Facilitates communication between project teams, subcontractors, and clients regarding schedule-related matters.
  • Collaborates with Estimating Department and project teams for resource loading (construction – material release(s) – labor – cash – Schedule of Values billing). Assigning labor, equipment, and material resources; integrating cost curves and budgets.
  • Communicates schedule status updates to stakeholders and management regularly.
  • Attends on site project meetings.
  • Prepares the agenda and runs internal meetings as needed.
  • Works with Project Managers to identify critical path activities and, when directed, prepares documentation to accomplish these activities and submits documentation to the Project Manager for final approval.
  • Reviews the work of direct reports, ensuring work is accurately completed and in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Provides training and support to direct reports on scheduling methodologies and tools.
  • Implements best practices and standardized scheduling procedures across projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
