About The Position

We are seeking individuals to join as join as a Senior SCADA Systems & Integration Engineer to support the execution and operation of utility‑scale battery energy storage projects, from late-stage development through long‑term operations. The Senior SCADA Systems & Integration Engineer will report to the Operations Engineering Director, and will work across the organization, supporting the design, integration and operations of controls and monitoring systems associated with grid connected BESS projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in SCADA, instrumentation, and control systems engineering is required; experience with Battery Energy Storage energy management systems (EMS) and grid‑level SCADA configuration preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in instrumentation, electrical engineering, or related field (ABET‑accredited) is required. PE or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with battery energy storage systems, substation design, and transmission‑level protection and coordination.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and instrumentation and control standards from IEEE, ISA, ANSI and IEC organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including effective performance under pressure and clear executive‑level reporting.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, initiative, problem‑solving, and leadership capabilities; open to feedback and adaptable to change.
  • Strong time management and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support throughout construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations of BESS facilities.
  • Lead instrumentation and controls (I&C) commissioning activities, ensuring proper system integration, validation, and performance prior to commercial operation.
  • Lead SCADA operational support for utility‑scale BESS plants, including system monitoring, troubleshooting and coordination with OT/IT teams to manage networked systems, cybersecurity considerations, and associated software and firmware updates.
  • Manage and troubleshoot substation RTAC and relay issues, including pulling event logs, optimizing RTAC logic/code, and coordinating corrective actions with internal teams and external partners.
  • Develop and maintain engineering processes, procedures, and technical standards for controls, SCADA, communications, and substation integration.
  • Define design criteria and Scopes of Work, ensuring EPC and engineering compliance with company, investor, owner’s engineer, off‑taker, and utility requirements for control systems, SCADA, and communications.
  • Support and validate engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, design documents, and performance assessments for instrumentation, controls, and remote monitoring systems.
  • Coordinate with Performance Engineering and Asset Management to incorporate remote data, reporting, and operational requirements into EMS/SCADA systems.
  • Recommend alternative technical solutions to support project and business needs.
  • Support root‑cause analysis for plant performance issues.
  • Contribute to the development of the necessary systems and processes to ensure optimum SCADA and integration for control and monitoring systems through each step of project, development through operations.
  • Maintain operational knowledge of grid code and associated safety by design standards, regulations, laws, and procedures.
