About The Position

We are seeking an experienced SAP CO Business Partner with deep specialization in Controlling (CO) to support and advance our S/4HANA Private Cloud environment across mining, refining, and magnet manufacturing operations. Operating within MP’s SAP Center of Excellence (CoE) model, this role serves as the Controlling domain specialist under the leadership of the Sr. FI/CO Business Partner. The position is responsible for the architecture, configuration, governance, and continuous improvement of SAP CO processes, with particular emphasis on: Product costing (standard and actual), Material Ledger with Actual Costing, Group currency and parallel valuation, Cost center and internal order accounting, Margin Analysis (S/4HANA), and Integration between CO and FI. While Controlling is the core specialty, this role requires strong exposure to Financial Accounting disciplines to ensure proper valuation logic, financial statement alignment, and audit compliance in a multi-entity, multi-currency, publicly traded environment. This position plays a strategic role in supporting MP’s vertically integrated rare earth supply chain and ensuring scalable, harmonized financial processes across Mining and Magnetics operations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
7+ years of SAP FI/CO experience with strong specialization in Controlling (CO)
Demonstrated expertise in: Product costing (standard and actual), Material Ledger with Actual Costing, Margin Analysis (Account-Based COPA), Cost center accounting
Strong understanding of multi-entity and multi-currency environments, including group currency and parallel valuation.
Solid working knowledge of Financial Accounting integration, including GL, parallel ledger & profit center accounting.
Experience supporting financial close processes and audit requirements in a SOX-controlled environment.
S/4HANA experience required

Responsibilities

Serve as the CO domain specialist, aligning solutions to enterprise governance standards.
Design, configure, and optimize: Cost Center Accounting (CCA), Product Cost Planning and standard cost roll processes, Cost component structures, Margin Analysis (Account-Based COPA), Settlement and allocation cycles
Ensure controlling structures support operational transparency while maintaining financial integrity.
Support new plants, products, and legal entity expansions with appropriate costing and controlling design.
Own product costing strategy across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods in mining and manufacturing environments.
Lead and govern standard cost rolls and cost component structure configuration.
Configure and maintain Material Ledger with Actual Costing, including: Multi-currency valuation (local and group currency), Parallel valuation logic, Price difference analysis and settlement, Periodic revaluation of inventory
Ensure accurate treatment of production variances, purchase price variances, and inventory adjustments.
Partner with PP and MM Business Partners to ensure BOMs, routings, and valuation strategies align with costing design.
Maintain strong working knowledge of Financial Accounting processes
Ensure accurate reconciliation between controlling objects and the General Ledger.
Support financial close activities specific to Costing, Inventory Valuation, and Material Ledger close.
Support SOX controls, audit requests, and enterprise documentation standards
Occasional travel to MP’s operating sites in Ft. Worth and Mt. Pass
