About The Position

Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing complex computer systems. Determines systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintainance of system security. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. May provide technical guidance for database administrators and software developers. Newport News Shipbuilding, division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII-NNS) is seeking an Architect to support enterprise level planning of new programs while maintaining bridge to current landscape. We are looking for an seasoned architect interested in designing and building information systems to support construction of some of the largest and most complex products in the world. Our IT build and maintain systems that process information across Engineering, Planning, Operations and Manufacturing. We are the sole designer and builder of U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers and one of two providers of U.S. Navy Submarines. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
  • A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 12 years of relevant professional/exempt experience.
  • Master’s Degree in related field and 9 years of relevant professional/exempt experience.
  • PhD in related field and 4 years of relevant professional/exempt experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience with SAP S/4HANA Implementations, SAP Fiori
  • Knowledge of SAP ECC, Process Orchestration, SuccessFactors, payroll, Concur and SAP overall technology landscape.
  • Experience with SAP BPC, PEO, EWM, SCM & GRC is a plus
  • Prior experience implementing SAP Ariba and Fieldglass is a plus
  • Develop multiple architectural models that depict how the future needs of the company will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.
  • Promote the use of shared infrastructure and applications to maximize benefits, minimize risk and optimize resources. This includes ensuring that projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from business and IT strategies.
  • Experience in integration architecture and patterns including integration via APIs and services is required
