About The Position

The Senior Safety Systems engineer is a Safety SME responsible for logical and systematic transformation of customer safety requirements and needs into coherent project safety analysis and verification and validation plans. The candidate will utilize modern best-practices and design ideology (such as MBSE) and be the primary technical interface with the customer on all processes involved with successfully analyzing and deploying systems with requirements based in safety standards (such as MIL-STD-882E, DO 187C). The majority of the work will encompass working with QinetiQ's Software Engineering team, so cognizance of software processes, practices, and terms is essential. The successful candidate will often act in an advisory role to the DoD customer, having the strength of character and comfort in the role of guiding such a customer away from poor safety practices and toward proper best-practices for analysis and acceptance of safety critical systems. They will be capable of working in a hands-on context in multi-disciplined integrated product teams consisting of program managers, software, mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers throughout the product's lifecycle including requirements development, design, verification/validation, deployment and sustainment. In addition, they will be capable of performing other systems engineering functions as required, including requirements management, verification and validation (V&V), and test engineering. This candidate must have a proven track record as a systems engineer with a focus on safety and application of recognized standards such as MIL-STD-882 and similar industry standards.
