About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I for our Civil Operating Group that will be responsible for implementing Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. . Civil experience preferred, but not required. Travel is 100% anywhere in the U.S. with regular rotations home every 3 weeks for 4 days until project is completed or assigned to another project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent;
  • OR
  • High school diploma with CHST Certification, OSHA 500, and a minimum of 10 years construction experience leading crews and planning work, to include at least six years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, conducting / reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and planning work activities or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Minimum of four years of construction safety experience
  • Current valid driver's license
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software programs
  • Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%

Responsibilities

  • Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including site-specific safety activities and training programs
  • Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, and analyze loss control data
  • Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals
  • Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics
  • Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain knowledge of safety standards
  • Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend safety meetings, and assist with major incident analysis
  • Work with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers
  • Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
